MISSION

TNMSA strives to provide support to the mining industry to improve the safety and health standards in the mining industry

VISION

  • To keep the Mining fraternity and Industry in high position among public and other industries and aiming to
  • Improve safe and healthy working environment by conducting inspections/ audits to prevent accidents from mining industry and for continual improvement.
  • Provide technical, educational and other types of support to mine management, mine workers to improve safety.
  • Work co-operatively with Directorate of Mines Safety, mine management and mine workers to improve safety and healthy environment in all mine.
  • Work towards achieving zero accident and reduce injuries by creating continuous awareness through Mines Safety Week celebrations.

FUNCTIONING OF TNMSA

TNMSA operates under the supervision of the Deputy Director General of Mines Safety, Southern Zone, and the Director of Mines Safety, Chennai Region, Tamilnadu

TNMSA annually oversees the organization of Mines Safety Observance Week, aiming to raise awareness among management and mine personnel via a range of events. Each year, the Annual General Body Meeting establishes the Executive Committee of TNMSA. This committee is responsible for organising and overseeing various events under the supervision of the DMS, who serves as the association's patron.

The Association encompasses mines situated in Tamil Nadu. The Association classifies the mines into three categories: 'A', 'B', and 'C'. Furthermore, the Association divides the 'A' category into non-conventional mines and conventional mines. The five zones of Tamil Nadu are Chennai, Neyveli, Tirunelveli, Salem, and Trichy. TNMSA is participating in organising zonal and state-level functions in one zone and zonal-level functions in the other four zones. The inspection team, which includes individuals from different zones, conducts inspections and evaluations of mines situated in each zone. Additionally, mine workers take trade exams, and those who excel receive appropriate rewards and appreciation in order to promote a safety culture among the mining community.
